CMS Version 8.0.9 Release Notes

Introduction

CMS 8.0.9 includes the new 2015 shipping rates for UPS and FedEx along with a few enhancements and bug fixes. USPS rate changes were incorporated last September and, while included in this update, do not change for 2015. See below for details.

Release Notes from all other versions can be found on our Release Notes page.

End of Life Announcements
CMS version 8 will no longer receive updates after the release of version 10.0 which is expected Q2 2014. Make your plans now to move to CMS 9.0. Please refer to the 9.0 Release Notes and 9.0 Upgrade Plan for important information and details on upgrading to 9.0 before installing.

Microsoft has announced they will no longer provide support and updates for Windows XP after April 8th, 2014. This is a fairly critical situation. XP will no longer receive security patches after that date which, aside from the obvious security threats, also means that you cannot be PCI compliant.

Our recommendation is to move to Windows 7 Professional which has proven to be a stable operating system suitable for business use, as XP had been for many years. Windows 7 will be supported through January 2020. We are testing CMS with Windows 8 but we think, like Vista, it may not receive wide acceptance in business environments. Unlike Windows 8, the learning curve from XP to Windows 7 is a relatively minor one. Recommended article link discussing migration from WinXP to Win7 vs Win8. Windows 8.x and Server 2012 are officially supported in CMS 10.x.

PCI Compliance - CMS 8.0 has been successfully validated against the PA-DSS 1.2 specification by Coalfire Systems. Software changes that could affect your compliance are only included in major CMS versions (e.g. 9.0, 10.0) or minor versions (e.g. 9.1, 9.2) and never in releases (e.g. 9.0.5, 9.0.6) or builds (e.g. 9.0.6.159, 9.0.6.160). You can read more about our versioning methodology HERE.

You can find CMS versions 7.0 through 10.0 on the PCI Council’s list of Validated Payment Applications HERE

Integrations - No changes to our standard CMS integrations in 8.0. All will continue to work as they had including CommerceV3, UPS Worldship, FedEx Ship Manager, Endicia/DaZzle, ShipRush, MPS, TransFirst, and Authorize.net.

UPS Worldship - We've revamped how keyed imports work with Worldship to dramatically increase the speed of the imports. (no impact on XML integration) Please contact NHS Support or your account representative if you'd like to participate in the beta of this keyed import upgrade (CMS version 9.0.5 or later). This feature is included in CMS 10.0.

Package Dimensions in 2015 - UPS and FedEx will be using dimensional rating of all packages in 2015, ground shipments included. This means that you may need to provide the dimensions of a package to Worldship or Ship Manager so it can assess the minimum billable weight for that package's volume and then you'll be charged based on which ever is greater, the actual weight or the dimensional (dim) weight. In CMS version 9.x and 10.x we have added dimension fields to the Manifest to faciliate integrations from the Manifest to Dazzle and Worldship. If you're using keyed imports into Worldship, Ship Manager, or other shipping software, you'll enter your package dimensions there instead.
