CMS TEN Release Notes

Introduction

CMS 10.0.3 includes the 2016 updates to shipping rates and services for The U.S. Postal Service (USPS). This update also includes the 2016 UPS and FedEx rate changes that were previously made available in other CMS updates.

End of Life Announcement - WinXP and Server 2003
Microsoft has announced they will no longer provide support or updates for Windows XP or Windows Server 2003.

This is a fairly critical situation. XP and Server 2003 will no longer receive security patches which, aside from the obvious security threats, also means that you cannot be PCI compliant.

We have already started to see some ramifications to our clients running on these unsupported operating systems. PCI is dictating a shift away from using SSL and TLS 1.0 since they are now considered to be insecure methods of connection. As our partners start to follow this dictate and remove any support for those older forms of secure connection, you will need to be on a current operating system that includes support for TLS 1.1 or later. (Windows XP and Server 2003 do not support them)

Database and XML Changes - No database or XML changes in 10.0.3 although there were several in 10.0.1 with the initial release of CMS TEN.

Note - We are now deploying Java and Mapforce files with server installs to facilitate our forthcoming Amazon integration. This results in two new directories under \NewHaven Software for \jre and \MapForce.

Integrations - All integrations will continue to work as they had including CommerceV3, UPS Worldship, FedEx Ship Manager, Endicia/DaZzle, ShipRush, MPS, TransFirst, and Authorize.net.

Changes have been made to our integration with Endicia's DaZzle software to meet several new integration requirements in DaZzle v16. Those changes should be transparent to you and will ensure continued error-free operation.

UPS Worldship 2016 is also now supported.

CMS TEN - ENHANCEMENT DETAILS

  1. USPS January 2016 Rates

    All surcharges, rates, zones, and delivery area zips in CMS have been updated or confirmed current for 2016. See Endicia's page on the 2016 rate change for additional details. Here are some highlights pertinent to USPS options in CMS:

    1. First Class Package Services (FCPS) are now available up to 15.999 oz. Previously the max weight for FCPS was 13 ounces.
    2. Discontinued Services
      1. USPS will no longer offer Flat Rate Box options offered for Priority Mail Express (previously known as Express Mail). This affects both domestic and international. They will still offer Flat Rate Envelopes. Priority Mail Flat Rate Box options are still available and unffected by this change.
      2. Priority Mail Regional Rate C has been discontinued. Regional Rate A and B are still available.
      For these discontinued services that you're currently configured to use in CMS, we recommend setting those methods as Inactive to prevent operators from selecting them on future orders. Example -
    3. Renamed Services
      1. Parcel Select has been renamed "Parcel Select Ground"
      2. Standard Post has been renamed "Retail Ground"

  2. Endicia DaZzle changes

    Auto select customs forms - DAZzle will now automatically select the best customs form for your international shipments. Previously CMS was making the selection for you. This is a feature we had lobbied Endicia for to help ensure accurate and trouble-free international shipping, particularly as forms and regulations change.

    There's nothing you need to do to take advantage of this new feature. DAZzle will automatically prompt you to update before January 17th. Once that update is installed DAZzle will then ignore what CMS specifies as the customs form type and instead use its own logic to determine which is best. Noting that this has no effect on label layout selections you've selected for each shipping method in CMS Setup. This feature is only for international/APO customs forms.
