- Important information to prepare you for the transition to your new version of CMS.

End of Life Announcements
Microsoft has announced they will no longer provide support and updates for Windows XP after April 8th, 2014. This is a fairly critical situation. XP will no longer receive security patches after that date which, aside from the obvious security threats, also means that you cannot be PCI compliant.

Our recommendation is to move to Windows 7 Professional which has proven to be a stable operating system suitable for business use, as XP had been for many years. Windows 7 will be supported through January 2020. We are testing CMS with Windows 8 but we think, like Vista, it may not receive wide acceptance in business environments. Unlike Windows 8, the learning curve from XP to Windows 7 is a relatively minor one. Recommended article link discussing migration from WinXP to Win7 vs Win8.

PCI Compliance - CMS 9.0 has been successfully validated against the PA-DSS 1.2 specification by Coalfire Systems. Software changes that could affect your compliance are only included in major CMS versions (e.g. 9.0, 10.0) or minor versions (e.g. 9.1, 9.2) and never in releases (e.g. 9.0.5, 9.0.6) or builds (e.g. 9.0.6.159, 9.0.6.160). You can read more about our versioning methodology HERE.

You can find CMS versions 7.0 through 9.0 on the PCI Council’s list of Validated Payment Applications HERE We are currently working on CMS 10.0 which will be validated against the new PA-DSS 3.0 specification by Coalfire System Q2 2014.

Integrations - No changes to our standard CMS integrations in 9.0.7. All will continue to work as they had including CommerceV3, UPS Worldship, FedEx Ship Manager, Endicia/DaZzle, ShipRush, MPS, TransFirst, and Authorize.net.

Worldship 2014 - We've completed our testing with the new UPS Worldship 2014 with both the XML and keyed import integration methods and discovered no issues or need for configuration changes. Upgrade if/when you like.

Worldship - We've revamped how keyed imports work with Worldship to dramatically increase the speed of the imports. (no impact on XML integration) Please contact NHS Support or your account representative if you'd like to participate in the beta of this keyed import upgrade.

9.0.7 ENHANCEMENT DETAILS

  1. 2014 USPS Rates

Rates and services updated for the 2014 USPS rate increase, effective January 26th, 2014. Details on USPS rate changes can be found on their site at http://about.usps.com/news/national-releases/2013/pr13_077.htm. As usual, though, this information is better obtained from Endicia who does a great job of interpretting and representing the changes in a much more digestible fashion, either as a webpage or webinar. Some highlights:
    • Priority rates are largely the same or even a little less for packages five pounds or less and flat rate options
    • Lowered threshold to obtain Commercial Plus pricing (50,000 packages a year)
    • $0.01 discount for First Class electronic postage of 3.5 ounce or less
    • First Class package rates up more significantly (seemingly to encourage jumping to Priority Mail)
    • First Class international not going up
    • International flat rates down
    • International tracking improved

      Summary of CMS changes:
    • Zone 9 - A new zone has been added to facilitate pricing for shipments to Palau, Marshall Islands, and Micronesia (keeping pricing for zone 8 from rising too much)
    • Update City State data - The data used by CMS to populate city, state, and county information based on the entry of a zip code has been updated to the latest available from USPS
    • References to Delivery Confirmation have been changed to USPS Tracking

  2. Endicia/Dazzle changes

    • Shipments to Guam, Palau, Micronesia, Marshall Islands, and the Mariana Islands now trigger customs forms
    • Completed transition to the Priority Express naming convention (from Express Mail) to ensure future compatibility with Dazzle
    • Completed the removal of outdated elements in the XML integration to ensure continued error-free processing of international shipments
    • New option to suppress the inclusion of a return address when CMS is passing package data to Dazzle. This is useful in scenarios where you'd want to hard-code a specific return name/address on the shipping address that differs from the name/address you have in CMS.
    • International shipments for items that have no harmonized (HTS) code will no longer be combined on the same customs line
  3. Bug Fixes and modifications
